Our Mission

To provide a safe, positive, structured, and accountable living environment for men seeking sobriety from alcohol and drug dependency. To help encourage men to learn how to live a substance-free, productive and meaningful lifestyle.

Talbot House is the only true 3-phase transitional recovery organization in the Louisville area, and it comprises 3 different houses. These are all located within a block of each other in Old Louisville. 

​After 90 days of compliance at the Talbot House, residents are eligible to transition to our Wallace House. Residents of the Wallace House are held to the same rules and expectations. After 6 months of compliance with the Wallace House, residents are eligible to move into our Hoard House. This is the final phase where residents can live in their own efficiency apartment for up to one year. Residents pay monthly rent and LG&E. Residents of the Hoard House must remain sober and stay compliant during their stay.

​Transitional recovery housing at Talbot House is a safe, structured, healthy, family-like opportunity to live in a substance-free environment that supports men in recovery from alcohol and addiction. Transitional recovery housing provides a substance-free lifestyle, structure, and direct link to other peers in recovery, support groups and recovery support services.

Non-Profit

The Talbot House is a non-profit organization that is self-sufficient and relies on the generosity of the community to help provide new beginnings for these men.

We Serve Our Community

Men at Talbot House Agree to:

  • Applicants have a minimum of 7 days substance- free or completed detox program.

  • Must be able to provide a negative UDS screen upon intake 

  • Applicants are willing to verbally commit to a 6-month minimum stay/complete steps 1-5

  • Applicants must have a $240.00 deposit at time of admission. This will cover 1st and last week's rent.

  • Residents will be required to pay $120.00 per week or $480.00 per month.

  • Residents will need to bring their own clothing, bedding, food, and hygiene items

  • Residents will be required to attend 7 A.A./N.A. meetings per week. This includes 3 mandatory meetings on the property. Residents will be allowed to Join 1 Zoom meeting per week.

  • Residents must obtain employment, a sponsor, and a home group within 2 weeks of admission.

  • Residents are required to commit to doing service work and to complete a daily/weekly chore.

  • All residents must abide by the 11:00 pm curfew nightly.

  • Residents in compliance after thirty days may be eligible for a weekend pass to visit family, etc.

  •  Applicants with outstanding warrants need to have their warrants resolved before move-in. Those with felony assault charges and/or active EPO and DVO cases will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

We agree to provide the following:

  • A safe place free of drugs, alcohol and anti-social behavior.

  • An environment that encourages and supports men to live a sober. lifestyle inside and outside the Talbot House walls.

  • Accountability to attend appropriate 12-Step meetings.

  • Accountability to have and remain in contact with a sponsor and a support group.
