Talbot House Louisville

Houses

Talbot House, the organization, offers a three-phase process through which men in recovery progress on their way to re-entering society and productive citizens.  Phase 1 begins in Talbot House, the building, and offers the most structure.  From there, men progress to Phase 2, Wallace House, which is directly across the street from Talbot House and offers somewhat less structure.  Men complete their stay at Hoard House, the third and final stop along the path.  Hoard House is just around the corner from both Talbot and Wallace houses.

Talbot House

Men begin their stay at The Talbot House, the original facility where the tradition of recovery began in 1964.

Talbot House is home to 18 men who live in two-, three- or four-man rooms. Depending on availability of rooms in Wallace House, men can expect to stay in Talbot House about two months. While living in Talbot House men receive close supervision, which is of great benefit to the newcomer. Talbot House is the center of activity for 12 Step and Community meetings. The staff office is also located in Talbot House.

Wallace House

The Wallace House is the second stop on the path.

Men earn the ability to move to Wallace House by keeping their commitments – making meetings, holding and attending their job consistently, paying their rent timely, and by demonstrating acceptable social skills and increased confidence. Men living in Wallace House have less immediate supervision. All rooms in Wallace House are two-man rooms. Even though men here have earned more freedom and flexibility, they must still abide by the same curfew, meeting requirements and other guidelines. Based on availability of rooms in Hoard House, men can expect to stay in Wallace House about three months.

Hoard House

The Hoard House is the last stop before our residents transition back to “the real world.”

Hoard House is made up of four over-sized efficiency apartments. Men living here have complete freedom from the guidelines in force at the Talbot and Wallace houses, while the support system the men of Hoard House have come to appreciate, depend upon and contribute to is only 150 feet away.    It offers those men the opportunity to experience freedom while keeping the familiar support system easily within reach.
